In this article, I am going to tell you this step-by-step process and I will also tell you how to access and use the custom workouts after creating them.

Which Workouts Can You Add To Garmin Watch?

Before we move to add workouts to the Garmin watch, let’s first see what custom workouts you can add to your Garmin smartwatch. You can create custom workouts on Garmin smartwatches around the following exercises:

  • Run
  • Bike
  • Pool swim
  • Strength
  • Cardio
  • HIIT
  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Custom

For example, if you run daily and want to add a warm-up round before starting up then you can do it. You will be able to set the goal as well as the duration of the warm-up set. Then you can add the actual run, again the goals for which can be set. And lastly, you can add a cool-down session as well.

When you will choose this custom workout on your watch then it will tell you to do a warm-up session according to the goal and duration you have pre-specified. Once you complete the warm-up session then you can switch to the main session and similarly, you can switch to the cool-down session after completing the run. You can also repeat any or all of the steps as many times as you like.

How To Add Custom Workout To Garmin Watch?

Let us now see how you can actually add custom workouts to Garmin watches.

Note: Custom workouts on the Garmin watch can only be created by the Garmin Connect app.

Step1: Open the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone.

Step 2: Tap on the hamburger icon on Android devices or three dots on iOS devices, present at the bottom right corner.

Step 6: Select the exercise you want to create the custom workout around.

Step 7: Create the workout the way you want to. You can add, remove or repeat the steps you like. Tap on the steps to change their type, duration, or target.

How To Access And Use Custom Workouts On Garmin Watch?

Step 1: Press the Start button.

Step 2: Go to the workout around which you have created the custom workout. For eg., if you have created a custom workout around running then select Run.

Step 3: Press the Up button to go to the options.

Step 6: Select the custom workout that you have created.

Once you select Do Workout, your watch will start tracking the workout as you have planned it.

Can You Create A Custom Workout From Garmin Smartwatch?

No, you cannot create a custom workout from a Garmin smartwatch. To add a custom workout you will have to use the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone. Once you have created the custom workout you can then send it to your watch to use.
