Best Smartwatches Under $200
1. Fitbit Versa 3
The first smartwatch under 200 dollars that I recommend is Fitbit Versa 3. I know it’s not the latest Fitbit Versa smartwatch but I think it is better than Versa 4 for various reasons. I will recommend watching my Fitbit Versa 3 vs Fitbit Versa 4 video to know why I recommend Versa 3. One main reason why I recommend Versa 3 is that Fitbit Versa 4 has limited app support & no music playback support at the time of writing this article. Watch the video below to know more.
Fitbit, an organization known for its fitness trackers, has already mounted its foot in the center of the smartwatch market. With its Versa version being rated as one of the best smartwatches among the various branded and premium smartwatches under 200$ prevailing in the world of digital tech, Fitbit introduced a more simplified and improved version of its fitness smartwatches.
Speaking about the build quality, I found the Fitbit Versa 3 comes with a very pleasant and comfortable design, which definitely suited my wrist & felt comfortable enough to wear while sleeping.
Fitbit has retained the squircle design which obviously seems attractive on a smartwatch. Within the box of this smartwatch under 200, I found that the company has provided small & large bands. So regardless of whether or not you have a big or small wrist, you will be able to use this smartwatch.
This watch is also available in a lot of color combinations including blue/gold, pink/gold, olive/soft gold, & black color variant. I went with the olive soft gold variant but you can go with other colors as there isn’t any price difference.
One thing that makes it one of the most unique smartwatches on my list is the fact that it has a one-button interface. It was a little difficult to get used to but once I did, using it was the piece of cake.
This one single button will function for both ‘select’ and ‘back’ options which seems to be a better way of navigation other than the touchscreen itself.
Talking about the display, this watch comes AMOLED screen which made the text on the watch easy to read. It also has an always-on display which means I didn’t have to flick my wrist to read the time. I know the feature can be a battery drain but don’t worry you can turn off the always-on display or schedule it as well.
This smart watch under 200 dollars also offers some highly advanced health & reliable fitness features like heart rate monitoring & sleep analysis. I also liked that the smartwatch offers a heart rate alert feature that alerted me when my heart rate crossed or fell below the set threshold.
This helped me a lot, especially during my workouts, it ensured that I didn’t push myself unnecessarily & risk any injury. This can also be helpful to track the intensity of the workout.
Moving on to the sleep score & sleep analysis, it offers one of the best sleep tracking available on the smartwatch. I got a better understanding of my sleeping time which helped me in altering & changing my lifestyle.
I was able to track the amount and quality of my sleep in different rapid eye movement (REM) sleep stages. For people who are really looking for insights into their sleep quality, this can be a very reliable and accurate feature offered by Fitbit.
By the way, Fitbit Versa 3 also comes with built-in GPS which means I didn’t need to carry my smartwatch to my outdoor runs.
Besides fitness tracking, Versa 3 offers smart features as well like the ability to take calls using the built-in speaker & microphone on the smartwatch. I have also made a dedicated video analyzing the onboard speaker on my YouTube channel. You can watch the video below to know more.
Besides that, you can also read & interact with text & IM messages on Fitbit Versa 3. I used it to check my emails, messages, & WhatsApp IMs. You check all the things you can do in my video below.
Another thing that I liked about this Fitbit for women and men is that it supports both Android as well as iOS devices. Hence, you don’t have to be selective following the smartphone in your pockets right now.
Now finally coming to the question that whether Fitbit Versa 2 is really worth the price or not.
With a high number of key features in both categories of fitness smartwatches and traditional smartwatches, Fitbit Versa 3 ranks number one among the 7 best smartwatches between $100-200$ which I have chosen for you.
You can consider going through my Fitbit Versa 3 review video if you want to know the pros and cons of Fitbit Versa 3 in more detail.
2. Amazfit T-Rex 2
Fitbits are great but one of the best smartwatches to buy under $200 launched in 2022 is Amazfit T-Rex 2. Although it is a Chinese smartwatch brand but let me tell you they make phenomenal smartwatches at reasonable prices.
I like rugged-looking G-Shock like watches & Amazfit T-Rex 2 provides the best of both worlds, the smartwatch & G-Shock world. This watch is water resistant up to 100m & can survive extreme temperatures of 158 Fahrenheit to as low as -40 Fahrenheit. I can vouch for the rating as I recently went on a trek at the height of 3,500m+ in the Himalayas where the temperature was extremely low & it was raining & snowing the entire time. Needless to say, the watch performed really well & came out unscathed.
However, it did have a problem in pinging the GPS which was surprising considering that this smartwatch under $200 supports 5 global navigation satellites. Maybe, I should have used high accuracy mode on the watch instead of the balanced one.
It did perform really well during my testing in the city & countryside which I have made a video on. You will find my Amazfit T-Rex 2 GPS accuracy video below in which I have also talked about various GPS modes available on the watch.
Two important new features available on the Amazfit are map importing & heart rate strap support. So if you don’t trust wrist-based heart rate tracking for your sports activity then you will love Amazfit T-Rex 2 as it supports a chest strap. While you are at it, you can also import maps of your favorite cycling or running route on this smartwatch under $200.
Talking about sports tracking, Amazfit T-Rex 2 comes with 150+ profiles. I was really impressed with the built-in running, cycling, & jump rope profile on the smartwatch. It goes neck to neck with various well-known brands like Samsung, Apple, & Garmin in terms of accuracy. However, some profiles like strength training are more or less gimmicky but they can be improved with future updates.
I have made an in-depth review of Amazfit T-Rex2 discussing the features, fitness tracking, sports tracking, battery life, & more. You can check the video below to know how the watch performs.
If you skipped the video then let me tell you this smartwatch under 200$ offers one of the best battery life. A single charge lasted me 7 days with all the features enabled like always on display, heart rate, sleep, blood oxygen, stress, GPS cycling tracking, & so on. I have made a short video logging how the battery life is impacted by my usage, you can check the video below.
While it is a good watch overall, it has some downsides too. For instance, it is a 47.1mm size smartwatch which makes it a big smartwatch for small wrists. So not everyone might like or find this watch comfortable to wear. Another feature missing is the speaker for taking calls but it is a rugged smartwatch so it can be ignored. However, the biggest downside is the limited app support compared to Apple or Wear OS smartwatches.
Overall, it is still a great smartwatch under $200 if you don’t mind the above-mentioned shortcomings by me.
3. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4
Android smartwatches have been reborn with the launch of Wear OS 3.0 & the watch that kickstarted the revolution was Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. I know Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 has been launched & Watch 6 is about to be released but they cost more than $200.
So if you don’t mind not buying the latest & greatest smartwatch then I would recommend Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 as it is more value for money. You can watch my Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 5 comparison video below.
Talking about the Watch 4, it comes in 40mm & 44m sizes which means regardless of your wrist size you can get one for yourself. Build quality is phenomenal, it comes with an aluminum frame & has gorilla glass in the front for protection. The stock silicone strap provided is one of the best I have used in a smartwatch. It is easy to put on or off your wrist & gave me a good grip.
Display on it is an AMOLED display which ensured good readability while using this Android smartwatch on the beach. It has a 1.4-inch display which is one of the biggest screen smartwatches on the list.
During my day-to-day usage, I found the watch to be responsive & lag-free. It’s because this $200 Android smartwatch comes with a dual-core Exynos W920 processor which ensured smooth performance. The onboard 16GB onboard storage & 1.5GB RAM also make this smartwatch a beast.
I installed various apps on the smartwatch & I have recommended the apps on my YouTube channel as well. I will be leaving a link for the same below.
In terms of health & fitness tracking, I found that sleep tracking on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 can be improved. It detected deep sleep to be way less way too often. I have talked about this issue in great detail in my Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 review. You can check my review video below.
All in all, it is the best Android smartwatch under $200 that you can buy. There are three main reasons why I recommend this smartwatch i.e. it has an onboard speaker for taking calls, good third-party app support, & decent fitness tracking.
4. Amazfit GTR 4
If you love round shape smartwatches but hate average battery life on smartwatches then Amazfit GTR 4 is the watch you want. Unlike, the previous Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 that I used, I found the battery life of the Amazfit GTR 4 to be phenomenal. A single charge with heavy usage lasted me 7 to 8 days. You can watch my Amazfit GTR 4 battery test video to know the battery life I got out of this watch.
By the way, I have also made an in-depth comparison video of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 & GTR 4. So you can know the main difference between the two watches in my detailed video.
Talking about the build quality, Amazfit GTR 4 comes with an aluminum frame & has a high glossed bottom shell. I liked the finish of the bottom shell & it felt like it is made of ceramic on my hand. However, I would like to add that this smartwatch is 46mm in size which makes it one of the biggest smartwatches on the list.
Speaking of the display, Amazfit GTR 4 comes with an AMOLED display which has a resolution of 466 x 466. During my usage, I was really impressed with the display as it is quite easy to read under direct sunlight.
Besides the usual specs, I also liked the sports & fitness tracking on the watch. I used the watch to track my running, cycling, swimming, hiking, & walking. This smartwatch under $200 watch also has built-in support for 5 navigation satellites which tracked my outdoor activities. I have compared the GPS accuracy of this $200 smartwatch with Garmin on my YouTube channel & compared its performance. I will recommend checking out the video.
Amazfit GTR 4 also features the latest Bio Tracker 4.0 PPG sensor which is super accurate in tracking heart rate. Besides that, it also has the ability to track, breath per minute, stress, & blood oxygen. In terms of sleep tracking, I found it to be better than Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. However, Fitbit still makes some of the best sleep-tracking wearables so if that is your priority then Fitbit makes sense.
Another department that Amazfit GTR 4 lacks is the App Store. This smartwatch under $200 doesn’t support popular third-party apps like Spotify, YouTube Music, & Amazon Music. So if you want a smartwatch that supports these services then you will be better off with Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.
All in all, it is one of the best Amazfit smartwatches below $200 if you don’t mind limited app support & big size.
You can watch my review video to know how all the Amazfit GTR 4 features performed in my day-to-day usage.
5. Huawei Watch GT 3
The next smartwatch is also a great alternative to Amazfit GTR 4 because it is available in 42mm & 46mm variants. So if you are looking for a small smartwatch under 200 dollars then this will be perfect.
During my usage, I also found that the Huawei Watch GT 3 smartwatch offers incredible battery life of 7 days on a single charge. By the way, if you are confused between Huawei GT 3 & Amazfit GTR 4 then I would recommend watching my Amazfit GTR 4 vs Huawei GT 3 video below.
Despite the low price, I found Huawei Watch GT 3 to be as good as Amazfit GTR 4 in most departments. For instance, Huawei Watch GT 3 also supports 5 navigation satellites. I found it to be good enough to track my outdoor walks, runs, & cycling.
In terms of heart rate accuracy, I will say that Huawei Watch GT 3 is as good as Amazfit GTR 4. Besides heart rate, this watch can also track your stress, sleep, & blood oxygen sensor.
Huawei GT 3 also comes with a built-in speaker & microphone so you can take calls on the watch. It really helped me whenever I was not immediately able to reach my phone.
One department where Huawei fell short in comparison to Amazfit GT 3 is in the number of sports profiles which is 96. Compared to that, Amazfit features more than 150+ sports profiles.
All in all, it is a great smartwatch below 200 dollars that you can get from Huawei. It has great build quality & all the features almost all the watches have to offer.
6. Garmin Vivoactive 4
Garmin is one of the best smartwatch brands as they offer unmatched sports analysis. However, most Garmin smartwatches usually have a high price but that’s not the case with Vivocative 4. This is the latest Garmin smartwatch which is priced under 200 dollars that you can buy right now.
In terms of specs, it might look like the least powerful smartwatch on my list right now but it makes up for it in other departments i.e. software. Before talking about software let me talk about hardware first.
Garmin Vivoactive 4 comes with 1.3-inch color memory in a pixel display. This is one of the easiest-to-read displays under direct sunlight. However, the 260 x 260 resolution of the display could have been better in my opinion.
Similarly, compared to other smartwatches under 200 dollars this one only supports 3 global navigation satellites. But what makes me recommend this 200$ smartwatch is the sports tracking features.
Using the smartwatch I was able to monitor my sleep, blood oxygen, all-day stress monitoring, & track my respiration. Along with that, it comes with 20 sports profiles that helped me in tracking my outdoor runs. I also liked the animated workout that the watch has to offer. So just start the workout on Garmin Vivoactive 4 & follow the workout along with the watch.
The best part is the fact you can download Deezer & Spotify on the smartwatch to play your music on runs without your phone. If you are still unsure then I would recommend watching my Garmin Vivoactive 4 vs Amazfit GTR 4 video.
7. Fossil Gen 6
The last smartwatch on the list is also the best Fossil smartwatch under $200 that you can buy. Plus, it is the latest flagship Fossil smartwatch that you can buy. It has all the usuals found on smartwatches which include sports & fitness tracking.
However, I must say that if you are a serious fitness enthusiast then you might be better off with Garmin, Fitbit, Samsung, or even Amazfit. Fossil has all the usual built-in GPS & workout profiles but it’s not polished enough for serious users.
So, “What makes it special?”, you ask.
The first reason for recommending this $200 smartwatch is the looks of the smartwatch. In terms of looks, this is probably the best-looking smartwatch under $200 on the list. You can buy the watch in leather strap, bracelet strap & silicon strap variants. One thing to note here is that except for the silicone variant others are priced above $200.
The second reason to recommend is the fact it supports the latest Wear OS from Google. And, it is powered by Snapdragon 4100+ chipset which is coupled with 1GB RAM which ensures smooth performance. Since it runs on Wear OS, you get access to apps like YouTube Music, Spotify, & Deezer.
So if looks are your priority then you will be better of with this Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch.
Budget Smartwatch Under 200 Dollars Buying Guide
With the market so huge and millions of smartwatches on the buying list, it surely becomes hectic and difficult to read about each product on the internet.
Though it is very necessary to get into detail about every smartwatch before buying it, you should also know about which smartwatch’s features and characteristics you want to read.
Thus, to save time and to search for smartwatches efficiently, you should always know how can you invest your time wisely. For that, you have to set your priorities first. You should know about your requirements and many other factors before looking up for a smartwatch in the market which is so huge.
For this purpose, we have segregated some key factors which you should know about before going to search for a smartwatch for you and your family.
1. Budget
This is the topmost priority. The money in your pocket is directly proportional to the price of the smartwatch you can buy.
If you are looking for a budget-friendly smartwatch then you cannot go on the internet reading articles about expensive premium smartwatches or watching video reviews of the same. For example, you came to this article because you were searching for some amazing smartwatches which are available for under $200. Why? because your budget said so.
So know your budget first. This is the very first step to buying a smartwatch.
2. Fitness-focused Or Smart Features?
This factor will ease your work by 50%. There are three types of smartwatches in total: smartwatches, Fitness smartwatches, and hybrid smartwatches. The smartwatches which you read about in this article were hybrid smartwatches, that is, the features of those smartwatches fall in both fitness as well as high-tech categories.
You should know which category of smartwatch are you looking for. For this, know your purpose. If you are looking for a smartwatch that may help you during your workouts then you should opt for fitness smartwatches but if you are looking for scratches for highly innovative digital features that can ease out your day-to-day life, you should opt for normal smartwatches.
Though nowadays there are so many hybrid smartwatches available in the market at very cheap rates. These can always prove to be a bit of a bonus.
3. Features
Whether you are looking for fitness features or some other traditional features, you should always keep them in mind while searching for a smartwatch.
The product which you’re seeking to buy should always be according to your requirements and not vice versa because, in the long run, only productive products can give justice to your investments.
For example, if you are looking for a smartwatch that can sync with your smartphone well and make your day easy with features like smart notifications and GPS, then there is no point in searching for smartwatches that offer these features with some more premium features for an increased price. If you do so, you may be losing some possible savings.
Thus, always know what features you require in your smartwatch. This segregation will possibly give you a lot less headache.
4. Smartphone Compatibility
Smartphone compatibility is really a thing now.
More than 50% of the smartwatches in the world are not compatible with iOS devices. If you are an iPhone user, there is no point in buying a smartwatch that you cannot sync with your smartphone. By doing so, you will be losing all the features of that smartwatch and possibly a lot of money too.
Therefore, start looking up smartwatches that can work with your devices as well as they must be compatible with the version of the operating system which your current device upholds.
5. Fitness Tracking
Fitness freaks who are considering buying a smartwatch for their workouts and personal stats should know about every possible feature out there in the market.
There are some amazing features and fitness sensors offered by smartwatches which are as follows:
- Heart-rate monitoring
- Sleep tracking
- Swim tracking
- GPS tracking
- Personal stats
Here, you have to look for smartwatches that can give as many of these features in your budget.
Remember, one requirement always leads to another. If you are looking for swim-tracking features in a smartwatch available under 200$ then you also have to look for water-resistant smartwatches at the same price point. So basically, our point is, if you want to invest in technology then you have to keep yourself updated. You should always know the current features available in the market so you don’t miss out on anything.
6. Battery Life
Always know about the battery life of your smartwatch or the battery life which you will require.
For example, you are one of those daily travelers who frequently go on trekkings and camping. If you opt for a camping tour of more than 2 weeks in the mountains, then you cannot have a smartwatch on your wrists that has a battery life of a maximum of three days. In this case, you cannot rely on such smartwatches in the middle of the jungle.
Thus, always know about your requirements. Ask yourself various questions like what all features will you be using? How often will you get time to charge your smartwatch? etc.
Final Thoughts
Budget-friendly smartwatches or expensive premium smartwatches, with the evolving technology we have to evolve too. In this race of high-tech smartwatches, we surely have to look for various features and characteristics before deciding to buy a smartwatch.
In the article mentioned above, we discussed the 7 best smartwatches available under $200. Now it is upon you to note every feature and characteristic of these smartwatches and decide which smartwatch suits you the best. Good Luck.
