Watch with 3 bars water-resistant ratings can withhold the water pressure till 30 meters which is suitable only for splashes, rain, and shower.
2. 5 Bars
5 bars water-resistant property of the timepiece means it can bear water activity up to 50 meters under the water. Without any doubt, watches with this rating can be taken for recreational swimming and shallow water activities.
3. 10 Bars
If you have a watch that comes with 10 bars of water resistance then you can take the watch for snorkeling, 10 bar represents water resistance to 100 meters.
4. 30-100 Bars
There are very rare watches in the market that can tolerate water pressure from 300 to 1000 meters. These are mostly special edition watches and are great for underwater sea diving and other deep water sports.

Keep in mind that your Garmin Forerunner 245 is only resistant till 50 meters underwater which is suitable for the shower, and other surface water sports.
