Can You Install Snapchat On A Galaxy Watch?
Snapchat is really becoming popular day by day. And if you bought yourself a brand new Samsung Galaxy Watch then I am sure you must want to be online on Snapchat all the time using it. Because smartwatches these days can let you do almost everything that you can do with your smartphone, right? But the question that arises is: can you use Snapchat on a Galaxy Watch?
Yes, you can use Snapchat on your Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. But if you own a Galaxy Watch prior to Watch 4 then I am afraid you will not be able to install Snapchat to your smartwatch. However, at the end of this article, I will tell you how you can get all the Snapchat notifications on your Samsung Watch be it series 4, 3, or Active 2. So that you can always stay updated on what is happening in your Snapchat account.
Are you wondering why you can install Snapchat on Watch 4 and not on previous generation Galaxy watches? Let me tell you in brief. It is because of the operating system of these smartwatches. Watch 4 runs on Google’s Wear OS while previous Galaxy Watches run on Samsung’s Tizen OS. And there are various third-party apps available for Wear OS as compared to the Tizen OS.
How Do I Get Snapchat On My Samsung Galaxy Watch?
The first thing that you need to know is that there is no official Snapchat app available for Galaxy Watches or any smartwatch for that matter. Because an app needs to be optimized to be able to use it on a smaller screen effectively. And I don’t know for what reason, Snapchat has not done it yet.
So if you want to install Snapchat on your Galaxy Watch 4 then you will not be able to do it from Play Store. And if I am not wrong, you must have already tried it, right?
But do not worry, there is a way around it that allows you to install Snapchat on your Galaxy Watch. You can use a third-party app store and download Snapchat on your Galaxy Watch.
Follow the below steps to get Snapchat on your Samsung Galaxy Watch:
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Galaxy Watch.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on the About Watch option.
Step 3: Go to the Software option.
Step 4: Tap on Software Version repetitively 5 times. This will give you access to the developer mode, which by default is turned off.
Step 5: Now go back to the Settings App and go to the Developer Options.
Step 6: Find ADB Debugging and enable it. Click on the tick mark to confirm.
Step 7: Also enable Debug Over WiFi.
Step 8: Take the smartphone that your Galaxy Watch is connected to.
Step 9: Install Easy Fire Tools from the Play Store. Open the app once installed and tap on the hamburger icon.
Step 10: Next, go to Settings.
Step 11: Open the IP Address option.
Step 12: Take your smartwatch and see the IP Address written under the Debug Over WiFi option.
Step 13: Fill in the same IP Address on your smartphone and tap on Ok. This will connect your Watch and smartphone.
Step 14: If your watch does not get connected to your cell phone then tap on the connector icon present in the top right corner.
Step 15: Tap on the Continue button if it asks for authorization.
Step 16: Once done, open the browser on your smartphone and go to www.apkmirror.com.
Step 17: Search for Snapchat and tap on the download icon in front of the non-beta version.
Step 18: Now scroll down and tap on the download icon present in the front of one of the variants. For me, only the nodpi version worked and the other version did not work.
Step 19: Tap on the Download APK Bundle button on the next screen.
Step 20: Once downloaded, open the Easy Fire Tools app and go to the Custom APK File tab.
Step 21: Tap on the Select File button.
Step 22: Now locate the APK that you just downloaded using the browser. And then tap on the Yes button on the pop-up window.
Step 23: Tap on the Install button.
Step 24: Let the transfer of the app get completed.
Step 25: Once the transfer is completed, the Snapchat app will get installed on your Samsung Galaxy Watch. You can access it from the app drawer of your smartwatch.
Step 26: Open the Snapchat app and log in to your Snapchat account.
So there you go, now you will be able to use Snapchat on your Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. The process is a little lengthy so just follow it step by step and you will be good to go. If you face any difficulty then you can also watch the video below. In this video, I have shown how to install Instagram on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. Is Using Snapchat On Small Screen Fun?
I know you must want to be online on Snapchat and be updated on what is going on there, I have been there too. But to be very frank, it is not at all fun to use Snapchat on such a small screen. You will not be able to share any snaps because your Galaxy Watch does not have a camera, so it is just good for scrolling. In fact, I really hated the fact that I had to scroll down a few times just to see one full snap.
So I did not like the experience at all, and I think it is better to just get notifications on your Galaxy Watch.
