Difference Between Soft Reset And Hard Reset

There are two types of reset that can be done on a smartwatch or a smartphone. One is a soft reset and the other is a hard reset. And before we dive into the process of resetting your smartwatch let us first understand the difference between the two and which one should you choose in which case.

Soft Reset

A soft reset is the simplest form of reset and consists of powering the watch off and then turning it back on. A soft reset is more commonly known as a restart. It is very useful when you are facing simple problems with your smartwatch. These simple problems may include the following:

  • Not able to receive notifications
  • Experience lag or sluggishness while using the watch
  • Watch is not able to display the correct time
  • The screen of the watch is not responding
  • The buttons of the smartwatch are not responding
  • You are not able to pair the smartwatch with your smartphone, etc.

One thing to note here is that a soft reset will not delete any data from your smartwatch at all. However, it will delete the data that is available in your smartwatch’s cache memory.

Hard Reset

When your problem is not solved by soft reset then you can opt for a hard reset. Hard reset is also known as factory reset because it sets the smartwatch to its factory settings. It will delete all the data that your smartwatch has and will put the smartwatch to the condition when you first found it after taking it out from its brand new box. Therefore this should be your last option.

So in case, if your Amazfit watch is not responding, or its screen just froze or just went black, etc. then doing a soft reset should solve it. And you might not have to do a hard reset.

Consequences Of Factory Resetting An Amazfit Watch

If your problem is not solved by soft resetting or restarting the watch then you need to do a factory or hard reset. But before doing a factory reset you should know about its following consequences:

  • It will delete all your workout and health data that you have not synced with your smartphone yet
  • Any additional app that you may have installed will be uninstalled
  • The watch will need a fresh setup and pairing
  • You will have to set up the Alexa on the smartwatch again
