Best Smartwatches With Sedentary Reminder

1. Xiaomi Band 7

Xiaomi fitness tracker with movement reminder

The first sedentary reminder smartwatch on the list is actually a hybrid of a fitness tracker & smartwatch. It is also the cheapest smartwatch on the list that you can buy for under $50.

Speaking of which, this fitness tracker allowed me to enable standing reminders. Once turned on, it reminded me to stand up & move after every 50 mins of no movement.

This worked pretty well & reminded me to take a short walk when I was sitting for too long. You can also enable or schedule the idle alert feature for a couple of hours. So if you don’t want to get alerted during office hours then you will find the schedule feature handy.

Besides sedentary reminders, the watch can also track your sports activities as it comes with 120 sports profiles. The watch can also monitor your heart rate, stress, sleep, & blood oxygen levels as well.

I also liked the 1.62” inch AMOLED display on the smartwatch which made the tracker easy to read. Xiaomi’s optimization ensured that the AMOLED display wasn’t a battery hog either as this lasted me a week on heavy usage.

It is a great option for those who want a light & easy to use a sedentary alert reminder smartwatch without all the bells & whistles.

The Good
  • Supports notifications sync as well
  • The female health monitoring feature is also available
  • Offers music playback control
  • I found the alarm clock feature to be useful

The Bad
  • No built-in GPS for standalone outdoor sports tracking

2. Amazfit Bip U Pro

Amazfit Bip U Pro

If you don’t want a smartwatch without built-in GPS then Amazfit Bip U Pro is for you. Unlike, the previous fitness tracker you would not need to carry your phone with you to track your outdoor activity. This watch has a built-in GPS that works independently to track your outdoor runs.

In terms of accuracy, I would say that it won’t be any different from the Mi band. The reason I say that is because for a long time, Amazfit used to make watches for Xiaomi but today they are partners.

Like Xiaomi, Amazfit too is a well-known & respected Chinese smartwatch brand. I have used plenty of watches from both brands & difference is negligible in terms of features & accuracy.

This watch too can track basic vitals like blood oxygen, heart rate, & sleep. I generally found the sleep tracking accuracy on Amazfit watches to be average. So if that’s not an important metric for you then without a doubt this is the best sedentary alert smartwatch under $100.

Besides sports tracking, the watch also offers a Pomodoro timer feature which I used to focus on my work. One major downside is that it doesn’t have an always on display which can be a deal breaker at times. Thankfully, the lift-to-wake display gesture worked well without any lag or issues. Talking about battery life, a single charge with heavy usage easily lasted me 5-6 days which is a pretty good battery life for a smartwatch.

The Good
  • You can schedule raise to wake watch display gesture
  • Music Control
  • Supports quick text replies on Android
  • Has notification sync support
  • It also has a countdown timer, Pomodoro timer, alarm, & to-do list feature.

The Bad
  • Missing always on display

3. Fitbit Versa 3

sedentary alert on fitbit Fitbit Versa 3

If money isn’t an issue then Fitbit Versa 3 is the watch I would recommend going with. It comes in where Amazfit falls short which is the sleep tracking department. I found it to be pretty accurate considering that you don’t need to wear a dedicated sleep tracking device.

This is definitely a tailored made sedentary reminder smartwatch for those who want to live an active lifestyle. This watch comes with the move alert feature that asks you to take 250 steps whenever you get an alert. You can check my video below to know how to enable this feature on your Fitbit Versa 3.

Besides idle alert, this square screen watch also offers the ability to track your sports & fitness activities. This watch also has built-in GPS & GLONASS for better outdoor sports tracking accuracy. I compared the accuracy of this watch to my Garmin Forerunner 245 Music & found it to be average in terms of accuracy.

Similarly, the watch lacked in-depth workout analysis which other smartwatch brands like Garmin, and Suunto offers.

One major benefit that this watch offered me compared to the previous two watches was the built-in speaker & microphone feature. Using it I was able to take calls on my watch when my phone was in my office bag. I don’t use it 24*7 but this is definitely a good feature to have in a smartwatch with sedentary reminder. To know about the speaker performance you can watch my call test video below.

The smartwatch also has a built-in NFC that you can use to make contactless payments. Similarly, the watch supports third-party music services like Spotify & Deezer. You also get support for plenty of third-party apps & watch faces.

Speaking of watch faces, I was able to easily read the text & notifications on the watch using the AMOLED display. Also, unlike the previous two watches this smartwatch features an always on display.

I almost forgot that this watch also offers built-in Google Assistant & Alexa which came in pretty handy. If you want to know more about this idle alert fitness tracker then watch my full in-depth review video below.

The Good
  • Has built-in speaker & microphone
  • Weighs only 31grams
  • Fitbit Pay for contactless payments
  • Active zone feature to track workout intensity
  • Offers 24*7, SpO2, & Sleep tracking

The Bad
  • Uses a proprietary strap that is not fit for extreme sports
  • SpO2 is tracked only during your sleep

4. Samsung Galaxy Watch 5

smartwatch with sedentary reminder

If smart features are important to you then the latest Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is the best smartwatch with sedentary reminders. It comes with the latest Wear OS 3.5 which ensures the watch supports all the latest apps on Play Store.

I used various apps like Spotify, YouTube Music, Strava, Komoot, & other apps on the smartwatch. I didn’t face any lag or storage-related issues as this watch has 16GB of onboard storage & 1.5GB of RAM.

Moreover, the watch also allows you to import music files to your phone & play music offline. I was also able to connect earphones & listen to music on the run without carrying my phone.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 also has built-in GPS, Galileo, Beidou, & GLONASS support. These four global navigation satellites ensured that the watch tracked my outdoor activities accurately.

So all in all it is a great watch to track your outdoor sports without requiring your phone. I found that the watch comes with 90+ sports profiles & I found the rep count & outdoor profile to be impressive. You can watch my Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 fitness review to know more about its day-to-day performance.

This smartwatch also has a sedentary reminder feature which reminded me to move every 50 mins. Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 also offers high granular control to adjust sedentary alert reminders. Using it, I was able to select & enable the day I want to get alerted to move. So if you don’t want to use the feature on weekends then you can do that as well. Samsung also offers the ability to set the time when you want this feature to work. This will ensure you don’t get bombarded with sedentary alerts unnecessarily.

It features a small-sized round AMOLED screen which makes it a great smartwatch for a smaller wrist. Also with its light, durable and thin design, the smartwatch makes a comfortable watch to wear. So overall, if you are looking for a minimalist-looking smartwatch for women and men with smart features then this Galaxy Watch 5 is for you.

The Good
  • Supports third-party apps like Spotify & YouTube Music
  • Uses 4 navigation satellites to track your outdoor activities
  • Available in 40 & 44mm size
  • Sapphire glass protects the watch
  • Supports NFC for contactless payments

The Bad
  • Average sleep tracking accuracy
  • Battery life is subpar compared to other smartwatches

5. Amazfit T-Rex 2

Amazfit T-Rex 2

If previous watches are too fragile for you then Amazfit T-Rex 2 will be the perfect alternative. I have reviewed this watch on our channel & found it to be tough enough to survive extreme circumstances.

Amazfit T-Rex 2 meets 15 military standards which allow the watch to survive extreme temperatures. According to Amazfit, this watch can withstand -40 degrees Fahrenheit to 158 degrees Fahrenheit and is shock-resistant, & water resistant up to 100m underwater.

Moreover, this watch comes with 150+ sports profiles which is the highest number of sports profiles available on any smartwatch on this list. I used this smartwatch for tracking my runs & found it going neck to neck with Garmin Forerunner 245 Music.

I also made a video on how to use the sedentary alert feature on this smartwatch. The feature is more or less similar to the feature available on the Amazfit Bip.

In this sedentary reminder smartwatch, you can schedule the move reminder time & also schedule when it should not disturb you. You can check my video below to know how to enable the feature on Amazfit T-Rex 2.  All in all, this is a great idle alert smartwatch that you can buy for under $200.

The Good
  • Military grade build quality

  • Can be used with touch as well as buttons
  • Water resistant up to 100m

6. Apple Watch SE 2

Apple watch se 2

The Apple Watch SE 2 is one of the latest smartwatches from Apple and is a cheaper alternative to their flagship smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 8. Although the Apple Watch 8 has more features than SE 2, if you are looking for a sedentary reminder watch then Apple Watch SE 2 makes a better choice. Since it is cheaper, you will save some bucks on spending on features you hardly use. Besides that, this smartwatch comes with a fall detection feature which can prove life-saving for seniors and heart patients who are at higher risk of falling down.

Moreover, this watch doesn’t look less premium by any means and gives neck-to-neck competition to Apple Watch 8 in terms of looks and feel. So, overall if you want to buy an Apple Watch with a sedentary reminder then you should go with the Apple Watch SE 2 without a second thought.

The Good
  • Cheaper alternative to Apple Watch 8
  • It has a fall-detection feature
  • The watch looks premium
  • Tracks your health and fitness with good accuracy
The Bad
  • It does not work with Android

7. Amazfit GTR 4

sedentary reminder smartwatch

The last watch on the list is from Amazfit as well but this one is more targeted towards lifestyle-oriented users. It’s neither rugged like the T-Rex 2 nor expensive like the Apple Watch.

It features the latest Biotracker 4.0 PPG heart rate sensor which did a phenomenal job of heart rate tracking during my workouts. You can also connect a Bluetooth chest strap if you don’t trust the wrist-based heart rate tracking.

Moreover, there is onboard storage for supporting offline music playback which is a pretty handy feature to have. However, I found that there is a lag in music audio control when Bluetooth earphones are connected to the watch. I discussed it in my review video which I have shared below.

Besides earphone connectivity, this watch also has built-in speaker & microphone which can be used to take calls on Amazfit GTR 4. I found the speaker & microphone to be good for indoor use. Outdoors speaker volume was a little miffed which made hearing call audio almost impossible. You can watch my Amazfit GTR 4 call test video to know the call performance of the watch.

I also liked the full-screen AMOLED display, it produced sharp text & images on the watch screen. During my usage, I found the watch to be easy to read in any outdoor lighting conditions.

However, it is definitely one of the biggest smartwatches on the list is as it around 46mm in diameter. This is definitely not a smartwatch for users who have small wrists. But if you like big-screen watches then this is the best smartwatch with a sedentary reminder. And, the best part is you get the watch for less than $200.

The Good
  • Can take calls on the watch
  • Onboard storage for offline music playback
  • Supports Bluetooth chest strap
  • Good battery life of 1 week

The Bad
  • Limited third party app support
