Best Smartwatches With Speaker And Microphone For Phone Calls & Music

1) Fitbit Versa 3

Cheap Watch With Speaker And Microphone

The first smartwatch with a mic and speaker on my list is from the brand Fitbit. Fitbit smartwatches or fitness trackers are well known for their health and wellness tracking features and Fitbit Versa 3 isn’t any different. It is the latest smartwatch of Fitbit’s Versa lineup that brings many improvements over the previous generation. One such improvement is that Versa 3 smartwatch now comes with a speaker and microphone built-in.

Using Versa 3, I was able to take and make calls without any issues. And since, I paired this watch with my Android cell phone therefore I was also able to reply to text messages using my voice as well. However, I was not able to use this feature when I connected Versa 3 to my iPhone.

The watch comes with Google Assistant. As a result, during my usage, I could get weather and sports update, set alarms or reminders, and a lot more by simply using my voice.

Moreover, I could connect Bluetooth-enabled speakers & earphones to the watch and could play music using Pandora, Spotify, or Deezer app. However, the thing that I did not like while exploring Versa 3 is that I could not use Fitbit Versa 3’s inbuilt speaker for music playback.

The watch comes with GPS functionality so I used to leave my phone behind while going out for a run. It can also track various sports or outdoor activities like hiking, swimming, tennis, treadmill, yoga, running, cycling, and more. The thing that I liked about its activity tracking is that it gave me an option to tweak whether or not I wanted to enable auto laps or auto-pause features for the selected sports activity.

Also, I think that Fitbit Versa 3 offers one of the best sleep tracking functionality found on a smartwatch. It accurately recorded my sleep and gave me a sleep score based on my sleep cycles, restlessness, time slept, resting heart rate, as well as various other factors.

Fitbit Versa 3 is one of the cheapest smartwatches with a speaker and microphone on this list which does not compromise on other features. If you do want to spend big on a smartwatch then you can definitely opt for Versa 3.

The Good
  • Ability to take and make calls
  • Google Assistant
  • Supports Pandora, Spotify, and Deezer for music playback
  • Built-in GPS
  • Health and sports tracking
The Bad
  • No music playback through the speaker
  • Doesn’t support offline music playback found in Versa 2
  • Ability to reply to text using voice available only on Android

2) Apple Watch Series 7

Apple Smartwatch With Inbuilt Mic & Speaker

The next watch on my list is arguably one of the best smartwatches that you can buy right now, yes you guessed it, it’s the Apple Watch Series 7. It has all the features that anyone would want from their smartwatch, including a built-in microphone and speaker.

It allowed me to make and receive calls using the watch just like a speaker phone. Moreover, the watch also supports voice commands from Siri. Therefore, while I was using Apple Watch Series 7, I could reply to text messages, set reminders, take notes, and do much more with my voice. I could also install apps like Shazam from the App Store that uses a microphone available on the watch to identify songs.

Apart from that, Apple effectively leverages speakers on the watch to make this smartwatch easy to use for the visually impaired. With features like hearing the time and voice-over, users with low vision can use and operate the watch with ease.

Almost every watch on the market can track heart rate and blood oxygen level. However, the Apple Watch is one of the few watches that can also take ECG tests. It can detect abnormal heart rate rhythms and alert users for the same. Luckily, everything seems well with my heart so I haven’t got a chance to measure this feature during my first-hand experience with the smartwatch.

The Apple Watch Series 7 also offers various smart features such as Apple Pay for contactless payments, access to App Store, sleep tracking, customizable watch face, and a lot more. If you own an iPhone then this is the best Apple Watch with a speaker and microphone for you. It offers one of the best smartwatch experiences for iPhone users because unlike other smartwatches on this list, this smartwatch is compatible with iPhones only.

The Good
  • Heart rate and blood oxygen monitor
  • Always on Retina display
  • Can be worn while swimming
  • Supports contactless payments
  • Wireless charging support
The Bad
  • Only works with iPhone 6s or later
  • Average battery life

3) Amazfit GTS 2Amazfit GTS 2 Music

The next smartwatch with microphone and speaker that I have for you is from the brand Amazfit. This gorgeous-looking Chinese watch on my list is Amazfit GTS 2. It sports a 1.65-inch vibrant AMOLED always-on display which I think gives the watch great viewing angles and readability under any lighting conditions.

Besides the good display, the watch also tracked my sports activities like the treadmill, climbing, trail running, skiing, and pool swimming. Moreover, I could also keep track of useful performance metrics such as calories burned, distance covered, duration of workout, and more using the Zepp app.

This Amazfit watch comes with a speaker and microphone so I could look at the caller id right on my wrist and pick up the call without looking for my smartphone. Moreover, the watch comes with onboard storage of 3GB which allowed me to store MP3 files on the watch for music playback.

Unlike Fitbit Versa 3, Amzfit GTS 2 lets you play music using the speaker available on the smartwatch, which I really liked. And like Versa 3, you can also connect Bluetooth-enabled earphones to listen to music on the go.

The watch also offers 24*7 heart rate tracking and can also detect any abnormal heart rhythm which is useful for monitoring your heart’s health. It also offers sleep tracking functionality which gives users a sleep score based on their sleep quality. The thing that I have noticed while exploring GTS 2 is that if your sleep score is low then the watch also offers suggestions for improvements.

Amazfit GTS 2 is also one of the best smartwatches with good battery life as it can easily last up to 3-4 days on a single charge. However, enabling GPS functionality on the watch can drain the battery faster.

Overall, this is a perfect smartwatch for users who are looking for a budget smartwatch with a mic and speaker. It is a reliable watch with basic fitness and sports tracking functionality and comes with really good battery life.

The Good
  • Supports local MP3 playback
  • Alexa AI built-in
  • Ability to take calls using the watch
  • 24*7 heart rate tracking
  • Vibrant AMOLED display
The Bad
  • Doesn’t support third-party music app
  • GPS connection not steady
  • Sometimes watch drops connection with the cell phone

4) Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Best Smartwatch With Speaker And Microphone

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is one of the best Samsung smartwatches with a built-in mic and speaker. It is available in two variants, cellular and Bluetooth. With the cellular version, I could leave my phone back at my home as the smartwatch comes with a speaker and microphone for calling functionality. You can check out my Watch 4 speaker and microphone quality test video below to know how good they are.

However, if you end up going with the Bluetooth version then the watch can still pick up your calls over Bluetooth. And, you can use Bixby AI to send text messages, initiate calls, get local news, and a lot more using your voice.

When I was exploring Galaxy Watch 4, it synced my notifications from all social apps like Instagram and WhatsApp, and also gave me the ability to read or respond to messages from the smartwatch. Moreover, I could even control my phone camera with Galaxy Watch 4. I found this feature to be very useful while taking a group photo.

Another USP of the watch is its bezel which allowed me to scroll through notifications and messages in a unique and fun way. Apart from that, the watch also has health tracking features such as sleep & heart rate tracking so you won’t be missing out on any health tracking features.

The watch also has a built-in GPS for sports and fitness tracking. As a result, I was also able to track my daily running routine using the watch accurately.

Like Apple Watch Series 7, Galaxy Watch 4 also supports wireless charging. However, I was not able able to charge it through my Qi wireless charger because it does not support Qi wireless charging like its predecessors.

Overall, Watch 4 is one of the best watches with a speaker and microphone for all Android users out there. If you are not sure whether to buy it or not then you can watch my Watch 4 review video, which I have made after using it for more than a month.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 Music

Not only this, but I was also able to add music to Watch Active 2, you can watch the video below to know how it can be done.

When I was using Active 2, I could also connect Bluetooth-enabled earphones and speakers with it. I even connected Active 2 to my car’s Bluetooth to play music, which was just crazy. Using the watch I could also control all the SmartThings appliances such as the Google Nest thermostat at my home.

Besides Apple Watch Series, this is one of the only few watches available in the market that comes with an ECG feature. Along with that, it also tracked my sleep and has built-in Calm app integration that helped me better manage my stress levels.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 was also able to measure my blood pressure and VO2 max making it all in one watch for tracking all my crucial vitals on the go. However, ECG and BP monitoring were exclusive to my Samsung smartphone and they were not compatible with any other smartphone.

6) Amazfit GTR 3 Pro

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro Music

Another Amazfit watch with speaker and mic that I have for you is Amazfit GTR 3 Pro. This Amazfit is for those people that prefer round smartwatches over square watches.

You get almost all the features of GTS 2 and even more on GTR 3 Pro. I was able to pick up and talk to my family and friends using GTR 3 Pro. And I found the quality of the speaker and mic of this watch to be decent enough. While I was indoors, I was able to listen to what the person on the other side was saying clearly. And the person on the other side was also able to listen to what I was saying.

Other than this, I really liked the 1.45” AMOLED display of this watch. It displays vibrant colors and crisp text. The touch of this watch is also very good and I have no complaints. However, since GTR 3 Pro does not come with any glass protection so I noticed some scratches on its screen after using it for just 7 days. If you finalize this watch then I would really recommend using glass protection with it.

This smartwatch can track more than 150 sports modes, which is just amazing. No other watch on this list can track this many sports.

Moreover, GTR 3 Pro comes with a multiple satellite navigation system, heart rate monitor, sleep tracker, 50M water resistant rating, and much more.

  • Multiple satellite navigation
  • Heart rate and sleep monitor

TicWatch Pro 3 Volume

Watches that are running on Google’s Wear OS have a bad reputation for poor battery backup. However, TicWatch Pro 3 is one of the best Wear OS smartwatches with good battery life available on the market right now. It also features a bigger battery than previous generation smartwatches from TicWatch.

What makes it even better is that it is powered by a powerful Snapdragon 4100 chipset coupled with 1GB of RAM which ensures butter smooth performance of the watch. And, 8GB onboard storage means you can install all your favorite applications from Google Play Store to the watch.

The smartwatch also comes with Google Pay so you can do grocery shopping while returning from your morning run. Moreover, the watch also comes with built-in GPS along with sports tracking functionality so you can track distance covered, speed, calories burned, heart rate, steps taken without carrying your phone with you.

It also comes with an automatic activity pause function. So while running if you stop for a break then the watch would automatically pause the sports tracking, and resume when you start running. Fossil Gen 6 watch comes with a speaker and microphone which can also be used as a speaker phone. Smartwatch also comes with NFC that allows you to make payments at all the NFC merchants like Walgreens, Starbucks, Target, and so on.

Moreover, the watch can also track your heart rate 24*7 whether you are resting or having an intensive workout session. 9) Garmin Venu 2 Plus

Garmin Watch With Inbuilt Speaker And Microphone

The next smartwatch on my list is the Garmin watch with a speaker and microphone and its name is Garmin Venu 2 Plus. You will be surprised to know that this is the only Garmin smartwatch that can answer calls.

Like other smartwatches on this list, Venu 2 Plus lets you answer calls from the comfort of your wrist. As a result, you do not have to search your pockets every time someone calls you. Other than this, you can also use the voice assistant to reply to texts hands-free.

However, the thing that you need to note here is that Venu 2 Plus does not have an inbuilt voice assistant of its own. It makes use of your smartphone’s voice assistant, be it Siri, Google Assistant, etc. Therefore to use voice assistant, you must connect your watch to your cell phone. You can also add your favorite music to Venu 2 Plus and then you can listen to them via Bluetooth headphones or via the watch’s speaker.

Unlike other Garmin smartwatches, this smartwatch comes with an AMOLED display that is very nice to look at. Other than this, Venu 2 Plus does exactly what Garmin is known worldwide for i.e. fitness tracking. You get almost all fitness features in this watch including:

10) Apple Watch SE

Apple Watch SE Calls

Apple Watches SE is another Apple Watch that has an inbuilt speaker as well as a microphone. It is a cheaper alternative for people that do not want to spend big but at the same time want an Apple smartwatch.

Watch SE’s speaker and microphone quality is the same as that of Apple Watch Series 7’s. And except for a few, you get almost all the features that you get in Series 7. The missing features include:

  • SpO2 monitor
  • ECG sensor

Like Series 7, Watch SE comes with not-so-great battery life. Do not expect it to last more than a day on a single charge.

The thing that I liked about this smartwatch is that despite being a budget-friendly watch, it comes with wireless charging support. And it is also one of the few smartwatches that detect hard falls and alert your loved ones.

Overall if you only want an Apple Watch with speaker and microphone but are running short on budget then buying Apple Watch SE makes perfect sense.

  • Heart rate and sleep tracker
  • Always on altimeter
  • Fall detection
  • Supports contactless payments

Factors To Consider Before Buying A Smartwatch With Speaker And Microphone

You should not pay attention to every smartwatch that comes with a microphone and speaker because some of them offer very limited functionalities. For example, some smartwatches on Amazon despite having a microphone and speaker don’t support calling functionality, and some support calling functionality but don’t offer other functionalities such as AI support.

Therefore we have listed four factors to look for in a smartwatch before making a final decision.

1. Multimedia Playback Support

If you are buying a smartwatch with a built-in speaker then also ensure you can play music with the watch. Some watches support MP3 playback while some support playback through third-party apps like Spotify. Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 takes it one step further and even supports YouTube video playback.

To get the best out of the speaker available on your watch buy a smartwatch that comes with music support. At least ensure that watch can play music over Bluetooth if not through built-in speakers.

2. AI Support

Today smartwatch experience is incomplete without a built-in AI like Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, or Bixby. Using them you can get sports updates, and local news, initiate a call, set a reminder, and more without taking your smartphone out of your pocket. To make the best use of the microphone in your watch make sure to get a watch that comes with AI support.

3. Reliable Bluetooth Connectivity

If your smartwatch doesn’t have cellular connectivity then ensure it offers reliable Bluetooth connectivity. If the watch doesn’t have reliable Bluetooth connectivity then there would be a delay in notification sync, problems while calling, and even occasional connection drops. That’s why buy watches from well-known brands with good reviews so that you get a smartwatch that can function smoothly all the time.

4. Cellular Support

Smartwatch with cellular support along with a speaker and microphone allows you to leave your phone behind. You would be able to play music, use navigation, send messages, or initiate a call without your smartphone. So if you want to never miss any call or notification even when you are outside the Bluetooth range then a cellular smartwatch is for you.
